Your manuscripts are yours
Everything you write in StarDrafter — prose, synopses, characters, story bibles — belongs to you. We never use your creative work to train AI models, never share it with third parties for marketing, and never read it except where strictly required to operate the service (e.g. debugging an issue at your request).
EU data residency
Your data is stored in the European Union: our database and application servers run in Railway's EU region (Amsterdam), and uploaded files and exports are stored in Amazon S3 in eu-central-1 (Frankfurt). Backups remain within the EU.
AI assistance is opt-in
AI features are disabled by default on every project. When you explicitly enable AI for a project and request a suggestion, the relevant scene text is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) solely to generate that suggestion. We do not allow the provider to retain or train on this data under our API terms. AI never modifies your prose; it only suggests metadata such as synopses, which you review and accept or discard.
What we collect
- Account details (name, email) via our authentication provider, Clerk.
- Billing details via Stripe — we never see your full card number.
- Your project content, stored to provide the service.
- Basic operational logs (errors, response times) to keep the service healthy.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can access, correct, export, or erase your data at any time. You can download a complete bundle of any project (JSON plus assets) from the export menu, and delete your account and all associated data from the billing page. On deletion, projects, files, and exports are permanently removed from our database and storage.
Subprocessors
- Railway (EU region) — application hosting and database
- Amazon Web Services (eu-central-1) — file storage
- Clerk — authentication
- Stripe — payments and EU VAT handling
- OpenAI — AI suggestions (only for projects with AI enabled)
